111 Years Strong, Going for 112 and Beyond!

Since 1894, our Chamber has been the premier organization serving Neponset Valley businesses. Initially known as the Norwood Business Association, then the Norwood Board of Trade, later as the Norwood and Norwood Area Chamber of Commerce, and finally as the Neponset Valley Chamber in 1988, we continue to serve our Members as the region grows and flourishes. While new members join the Chamber literally every day, we are proud to have retained several Members since our founding. These include Norwood Cooperative Bank, CertainTeed Corporation (as F. W. Bird & Son in 1894), and Bank of America (as Norwood Trust Company in 1894).

Large national corporations make the Neponset Valley their home, and smaller companies and SOHOs (small office/home office) continue to proliferate. From our award-winning regional economic development and public policy work, to our structured networking and leads groups, our Chamber works hard every day to serve the many constituencies within our 1,500-plus membership. Industry-specific groups of Members, such as our Transportation Industry Council, Events Alliance, and Life Sciences Alliance, allow Members to work on projects of mutual interest. Also, our Economic Development Committee monitors projects up and down Routes One, 128, and Interstate 95, and all their feeder roadways. Additionally, the Human Resources Council allows HR professionals to come together to share knowledge and learn strategies to attract and keep the best workers our region has to offer.

Chamber Members usually get involved in a hands-on way, volunteering and serving on the Chamber's action-oriented committees. By working in tandem with our expert staff, they improve member service, facilitate networking meetings, improve Chamber publications and public image, maintain excellent relationships with legislators and other policy makers, and encourage Members to network and promote their businesses at major functions. Our prestigious Board of Directors is representative of the wide variety of Chamber towns and business categories. From owners and managers of all sizes and types of businesses, to members of all the professions, our Directors execute the mission of the Chamber: to help Neponset Valley businesses flourish.
