It’s All About the Synergy

Getting to know new and prospective members of the Chamber is always fun for me, and I was particularly pleased to have several at my table at the Feb. 9 Noon Networking. As we got acquainted and told our stories at Bonefish Grill, it became apparent that there was unusual synergy in our group.

Renee Tepper of Coldwell Banker in Canton mentioned that she enjoys helping senior citizens organize and downsize their big households when it comes time to move. Jim Capra of Fidelity Investments said he works with seniors (and soon-to-be seniors) on financial planning, and Sonya Kinch of Colonial Life offered up her company’s products and services for seniors. Then there was Steve Stern, a prospective Chamber member, who owns FirstLight Home Care, which provides non-medical in-home care and companionship services for seniors.

Once the conversation got rolling, everyone had an AHA! moment, when we realized the alignment of business services and networking potential at our table.

Bringing together business people from a wide variety of industries is a strength of the Neponset Valley Chamber, but when a group of business people who never met before can sit at the same lunch table and find that they all serve the same target audience, then the Chamber’s benefits really become apparent.

I try to attend all the Noon Networking lunches, and I’m particularly glad to have been at that one.

There are some great opportunities to engage with other Chamber members coming up, so mark your calendars.
Last week we got together for a BAH at Castle Island Brewing Co. in Norwood to tip a few local beers and on March 24th our next BAH will feature wine samples from around the world at VINOvations in Sharon.

March 11 is the deadline to put together a team to participate in the month-long Steps to Wellness challenge sponsored by the NVCC’s Health & Wellness Alliance. Teams of five will compete to see who achieves the most steps in a 30-day period from April 1 to May 1. Each team member will be provided a pedometer and other goodies.

The registration fee is $50 per team, and proceeds will support the Education Cooperative of Walpole’s plan to build a universally accessible playground for special needs students. If you would like to participate but don’t have a team, let us know and we’ll add you to a team.
On April 14, the Neponset Valley Chamber will hold its annual Flavors of the Neponset Valley tasting event at Demitri’s in Foxboro. This is our biggest event of the year, with restaurants, bakeries, caterers, breweries and wine purveyors offering tastes of their most delicious fare. It’s a great evening of food, friends and fun, so save the date on your calendar now and watch for the Chamber’s invitation.

Enjoy the rest of this mild winter, and I’ll see you at a Chamber event soon!
