Back To Work

Back to Work
Well the school buses are rolling again and the Patriots season is about to kick off. I hope everyone had a chance to take a break this summer and enjoy some time away from work, your computer and other electronic devices we seem so attached to. September always feels like the beginning of a new year to me. The kids are back in school, the cooler air re-energizes people, our event calendar picks up and people seem eager to get back to work.
It’s a good time to take a look at your business goals and see where you stand before the end of the third quarter. If you find that you’re behind, you still have time catch up. If you’re doing well, perhaps you want to stretch your goals further or maybe begin thinking about next year. In any event, the Chamber is here to assist you and offers a number of opportunities for you to connect with other business people over the remainder of the year.
Our biggest event of the year is the Mega Business Expo, which is on Thursday, November 13th at Gillette Stadium. The expo attracts nearly 100 exhibitors from three Chambers of Commerce and last year 1,200 people passed through the doors. There’s no better way to expose your business to so many people in one afternoon.
On a more fun note, we will be holding our second annual Corporate Spelling Bee on Thursday, October 23rd at Showcase Live at Patriot Place. The folks from Murphy, Hesse, Toomey and Lehane will be looking to retain their claim to the Honey Bee Trophy as our Chambers top spellers. The Spelling Bee is a lot of fun and raises money for the Neponset Valley Leadership Institute, which provides an outstanding leadership training experience for area high school students and is run by the School to Careers Partnership. You don’t want to miss it.
Of course we also have our usual networking opportunities such as Business After Hours and Noon Networking. Our next After Hours is at The Bank of Canton on September 19th and will feature a health and wellness component. What better way to start the “new year” than by picking up some healthy living tips that you can share with your staff.
Finally, we will be celebrating several grand openings and anniversaries with Ribbon Cutting events throughout the fall. Members are always welcome to stop by and say hello.
You can find more information on all of these programs and more further down in this newsletter. I encourage you to start filling in your fall calendar now with programs geared toward helping you grow your business and have a little fun while you are at it.
