You say want a resolution?
It can be very tiresome to hear all the talk of New Year's resolutions immediately after Christmas. So I thought by bringing it up now I could beat the year-end rush. Don't worry though, there will be no mention of weight loss, gym memberships and eliminating vices here.
Rather I thought it could be helpful to remind you of some of the many ways that you and your employees can maximize your NVCC membership. That's right, I would like you to resolve to make the most of your investment in 2011. Let's all say it together, "I resolve to milk every last dime out of my partnership with the NVCC." Feel better?
Now, how can you do it? It depends on your business and your goals. Not every business participates the same way in the Chamber. Let's start with the low impact ways first. Do nothing. As a member you are listed in both our print and online membership directories putting your business in front of thousands of potential customers. Spend a few dollars advertising (website, directory, emails, etc.) and you can multiply the impact of that exposure. Order your FREE member discount cards. You and your employees can save money at over 100 local businesses by calling us to get your discount cards. Show the card, save money.
Utilize social media to stay informed and in the loop. The NVCC LinkedIn group (click here) is a great way to connect with other members without leaving your office. Make connections, join a discussion, ask a question all from your keyboard. If you "tweet" you can follow me on Twitter (click here) to access all the latest information on coming programs and events, local business news and Chamber updates. Or friend us on Facebook (click here) and gain access to event information and photos from our most recent activities.
For a more rewarding member experience there are a variety of other means of involvement. We have several standing and event related committees that are always in need of fresh ideas and talent. For a complete list of volunteer opportunties click here. Committee involvement may be the most effective strategy to connect with other business people in a meaningful way.
Perhaps the best way to gain exposure for your business is through our sponsorship program. Attaching your company name to an NVCC program shows your commitment to supporting the organization, it adds credibility and it gives you publicity in a variety of ways. There are sponsor plans available for all budgets. To learn more, click here.
Finally the most popular means of member involvement is to attend our programs and events. Of course, to be effective, you must make a commitment to regular attendance over a period of time. People will do business with those whom they trust. Participating in our programs gives you the opportunity to build that trust which can result in meaningful business relationships. Our program calendar for 2011 includes networking, events, after hours, seminars, major events and our ongoing REN (referral exchange network) groups. Choose one or more that is comfortable for you and begin growing your network immediately.
The NVCC provides opportunity for you and your business. I sincerely hope that you will resolve to make the most of it in 2011!
Enjoy the Holidays!
